Welcome Racers

Racers our 2010 season is upon us and I hope you are as ready to get going as I am. We did have a meeting on February 21, 2010 at Moto 1 David Suydams new location on US223 at Rome RD know as Rome Center. He welcomed us with a tour of the business and it’s very impressive.

For all of us who attended here is a break down of what was on my agenda.

There was alot of discussion on this and possibly a race will be put in maybe in Sept but the numbers are down.

We looked at last years numbers and the insurance for six races is becoming cost prohibitive.

This will be Glenn Bishops last year as “maintenance supervisor” I cannot tell you how much the community owes Glenn and Mike for the amount of work he does at the track.

This has brought up another point of conversation on what we as a organization have to do to keep the races going with the loss of key personnel do we have a back up plan?

The One point I did want to make was I am very proud to announce that for 2010 our Onsted Kiwanis Club and the Cambridge Twp Fire Dept will be giving a scholarship in the amount of $500.00 to a racer. We will have applications available soon and more information on this. It is my hope to raise more money and give two or three more $500.00 scholarships to your racers.

We also talked about making the website a subscription for a small fee and using pay-pal and using this as a starting point to begin our own racing organization with a president all the way to a board etc again work in progress.

As you can see we are getting bigger and better. I have a committee looking at expanding the track towards the North end and adding more track racing surface.

So you can see we have more going on this year than ever before. LETS GO RACING LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU AGAIN THIS YEAR.

It is very important that we have the racers to talk amongst themselves and let try to get a least between 50/60 riders for the Sept race to help us break even. We would like to try and get some type of rider count for the Sept race ahead of time if possible, you can email Dave Dixon at ddixoncrmotorsales@hotmail.com or contact him at 517-937-4779. The track was great, no rain and we all had a good time and I do believe alot of good is going to come out of the association taking over. I am looking forward to it.

Track: John Fork has been working on getting donations and thanks to his work and his helpers we will have a cement starting line this year. Thank You John for all your work.

Camping: Update: We obtained a camping permit this year so we are now legal with the health dept.. Camping is back! There will be camping availible for Friday night for all events. The Kiwanis Club paid the camping fee to the Health dept the Only thing we ask is that if the campers would like to make a donation to the Kiwanis for camping we will be glad to take this donation to help defray the cost.

Can we cut cost? We have looked at several different avenues we can approach. We will be looking to cut out the plagues and we will be working on a money return instead. This is in the works more details to follow.

Sponsorships: Honda East is still on board as the Title sponsor. We are in the process of adding other sponsorships as we did last year. We appreciate all the help we can get this year from our sponsors please take the time visit each and every sponsor and patronize there products. Tootie Detrick again is maintaining the cost of the internet and we thank her for that. For this year sponsors we are looking to have you contact Rich Richardson ASAP so we can get your name and information on the Web site and to get your name on our advertising right away. Personnel: again this was talked about at length esp. safety and flaggers. Still a challenge and work in progress.
